We certainly don't do it for the money
We certainly don’t do it for the money (2012) addresses the problem of widespread (self-) exploitation among artists. This sentence glows vibrant red in the exhibition space; the signal effect of color combined with the trembling, flickering neon in a handwritten font is programmatic, gently cynical, and admonishing at the same time. The neon installation also shows the proximity of Katharina Cibulka’s art to existential questions. Narrative reflections about (not always only) significant phases, particularly in the biographies of women, reflect a profound humanity and respect for life.
