Imagine I’m worth as much as you

Imagine you’re worth as much as me 

 

Two mirrors. Two brightly lit sentences – “Imagine I’m worth as much as you” and “Imagine you’re worth as much as me” – are inscribed on the viewer, writing over their reflection in the mirror. The sentences fragment the person in the mirror, creating a superimposed layer that depicts a vision of a possible future.

In 2019, Katharina Cibulka, together with Moroccan artist Zahra Sebti, created the performance „Imagine“ for the first Rabat Contemporary Art Biennial. In the new piece seen here, she again implements dialogic staging, but adds a participatory aspect to it. Visitors are invited to create their own “Imagine” sentences and post them on the walls, leaving a personal contribution that multiplies the mirrored sentence fragment of “Imagine” ad infinitum. This shared act of creativity gives rise to an inspiring variety of visionary possibilities for rethinking and reimagining our future.
